I think more than anything it's the removal of Pikachu which upsets me. I guess you can't have him without Ash though and the new kid having one couldn't possibly match them as duo.
The anime was also like the last instance of regularly drawn Pikachu and not that round bobblehead merch one so if that becomes the norm it's gonna suck..
