The problem with Salanence/Skarmony/Xatu is the constant state of gliding (not even flying). Their models wouldn't even look as bad if they just landed. Just comes off as awkward that they're forever gliding, maybe sometimes flapping their wings. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted it to be still or flying, so they went with both.
