Persona doesn't try to follow traditional patterns and just go for whatever it looks cool while SMT at least still tries to be faithful to how a demon was originally depicted. Which is why Doi's designs in general had some backlash from Megaten elitists. IMO Doi is a great human artist but his demon designs are a huge hit or miss. His Zeus is disgusting and Demeter as a loli was peak cringe.
