>>54822054This actually lets me tell a funny story. Pokemon wasn't the first fandom I wrote for, and it won't be the last. I just wanted to write a pokemon fic as my long-term project; however, I hadn't and I didn't read any pokemon fanfiction. There was simply too much and I didn't know where to start. The character I was writing for certainly had no -good- works published. So I had to "make up" everything myself while I planned the story. Funnily enough, the story turned just as 'derivative' as you claim it would be, even though I didn't derive it from anything. It took much longer than if I had, I'm sure. But it was a great exercise in story-boarding, and literary problem solving. It took me a while to even realize how much of a silver bullet camping was. Pic related is a screenshot of my literal storyboard when I realized.
Agan, I'll repeat myself because you seem to have never written anything. You have similar problems to solve and similar restriction in writing. You'll find similar solutions that work best. I'm sure MOST people are derivative, of course.
