Besides the fact that the most original Pokemon get left on the bench due to 4v4, so even if if 1/6 of the Pokemon are an original flavor, you won't even see them 99% of the time anyways and end up fighting Mega Mom and Garchomp all day.
And that's pretty much ignoring the fact that fucking Singles does this at tournaments too. Moltres, Registeel, Azelf, Chesnaught, Tangrowth, Weezing, Kabutops, Gourgeist, Gorebyss, Raikou and Slowbro all were used by winning players in SPL despite not being OU: the team. And unlike VGC if you see them in team preview you actually see them in battle as well.
See, while Smogon tends to present data in usage statistics VGC doesn't have access to this so most of the sites like Nugget Bridge show off single teams and reports. So you're getting an extremely limited amount of information that makes it seem more diverse since you don't see the leagues of cookie cutter teams or failed attempts to use an uncommon mon.
