There's no edge at all in gen 1 outside the Pokemon Mansion and Lavander Town, or at least not as much as there's in any following game. Any of that points on that list doesn't need to exist because that list doesn't need to exist, period.
Arguing for atmosphere is a thing as it is subjective, but why are YOU inventing yourself an "edge" that is bigger than it is in reality?
