Both the Coral and Darkfire betas look pretty enticing, but I played Unbound 2.0 before ever even seeing 1.0 and I'm pretty happy about it from what I've seen... Although I did play Gaia 3.0 too and all the snippets of 4.0 I've seen on an already impressive game just makes me more excited, but at least that one just has the Post-Game left.
Some cool hacks just never get finished though like you said so no harm in diving in I guess, like "Gary's Mod" where you play through FRLG as Blue with a different perspective on events and new areas. That one had so much potential, but I still don't regret playing it because I found what WAS added pretty cool, might even play it again one day too.
