>>35805824>Britbong born 1990, it's 1998 and soon Pokemania will be real deal.>My friend and his brother both had a gameboy pocket with copies of Red and Blue>I was so taken away with the games I'd literally watch them battle each other all the time>Grew up in a fairly poor household so family couldn't afford a gameboy when I asked for one>Now early 1990's and Pokemania is rife, I have a bunch of the cards and love them all>The cards I had I loved but I never had any special connection to any of the Pokemon featured on them>Had seen the show a few times, really liked it but we didn't have sky(cable) TV>Late 1999 and parent's go through a massive break-up and I now get to live with my Grandparents>Receive a Gameboy Colour and a copy of Pokemon Red from Grandparents>It's everything I wanted, I chose Charmander and had a wild ride>Initially I struggle with types because I'd only played the card game till this point but I soon adjusted>So many nights in bed with my torch balanced on my shoulder so I could secretly play and see the screen>I played the shit out of that game so much that some time after I got Yellow and did the same with that game>Kept playing right up until Pokemon Gold & Silver released in the UK in 2001 Now as an adult I notice that a lot of the Pokemon I caught and love from the early games are very similar to Ash's Pokemon. Charizard, Primeape, Butterfreee, Snorlax, Pidgeot, Kingler.
Those games were so memorable, they created many memories for me. Kicked a kids ass once over it too but that's another story desu.
