Who's to say that the Pokemon observed to make eggs out of dirt and plant fiber wasn't a grass type itself? Do you really think two Magikarp or Tentacool would create an egg out of plant fibers? That doesn't make any sense, and is completely implausible. Sugimori designs Pokemon to be plausible living creatures. Cope.
