As for other people, the selling point of the series I'd say is the designs, you've got simple monsters, you've got complex monsters; you've got cute monsters, you got badass monsters; you got monsters that are more grounded in reality, and you got monsters that are just plain weird
With all of that included, Pokemon is also an artfag's wet dream with how much shit they could draw at any given point, be it humans, monsters, or whatever
If I'm going to say anything about the games, it's that Game Freak holds Pokemon back very much and is probably close to Sonic Team in terms of incompetence, but they got exceedingly lucky with a franchise that exploded into popularity so they feel no reason to actually try to push the games to their limits
