Trying to apply real world logic to the development of that world will just result in nothing make sense, truth is that the worldbuilding is all over the place and at the same time contradictory depending on anime, games, spin offs and movies
How will we ever even make sense of how many regions of the world there is when as long Pokemon as a franchise exists the world is in a constant change of which species can be found in each region and it just takes a single retard throwing away a single mon to completely change the ecology of any given region
