X/Y soundtrack was really hit or miss i reckon. Most of the songs were either absolute perfection, OR they where just plain confusing and not passionate/driven enough.
My absolute favorite has to be Coumarine city. The legatos across the whole orchestra accompanied by the slow harp strum made it truly feel like you were beside the ocean. Possibly the most chill song in the entire franchise tbh.
A close second is Geosenge town. I love how the whole piece is played like a conversation between instruments. The technique is called "call and response" as they take turns playing their pieces. Its structure has been woven perfectly to support the harmony with the subtle accompaniment to make it almost sound like a duet sung for a romantic couple.

One thing i've also noticed is that the team flare theme and the elite 4 theme sound like they sampled from the victini/trio legendary theme from gen 5. Similar tempo and instruments. I might sound crazy but that's just my two cents.
Sure we might have uninspired garbage like the gym leader theme, but i think the rest of the soundtrack can really stand out on it's own. A lot of the pieces sound like they've been inspired by traditional french music and really solidify an identity with each location/theme. I bet in 5 years when you come back to play gen 6 you'll feel like each musical piece couldn't be written any other way.
