You'd probably need a warning before the game starts that's like:
>In this setting, you may be expected to emphasize building a well rounded team equipped to handle as many threats as possible.
Or something of the kind that makes players at least think before complaining that the game is too hard because they went about it like their retarded 5 year old self only using the Starter with 4 Fire/Water/Grass STAB for a moveset.
That is, if we were to consider the hypothesis of a Hard Mode with effort put into it, which is never going to happen. I'm also not taking a jab at the aforementioned playstyle, and you may keep on enjoying it in hypothetical other difficulties: Pokémon is still baby's first JRPG, at the end of the day. You're probably in it for something other than battling anyway, so i'm not here to stop you from not learning the game if the game's never stopped you for this long.
