>>17046857Serena takes a few mild sips out of her apple cider as the obnoxious Lumiose plebeians go wild on the plasma TV. Alice is just fine with apple juice, mind you.
Serena looks at her reflection in the cider with a thoughtful gaze, "You know, I was always explicitly told growing up that opening one of the family cider bottles was extremely frowned upon, even in times of celebration, but... It's not as if they're going to know, right?"
"Yup, yup!~"
"And surely they won't notice the disappearance of just one bottle, right?"
"Uh-huh!~"
It's the kind of answer that gives her the guts to take another sip, "Thank you for the re-assurance, I needed that."
. . .
"Mum-mum, does poppy know it's 't new year yet? He's-a still battlin'..."
"He'll find out on his own. See, the thing one has to realize about the new year is that it's fun for, the first ten minutes or so, then the hype dies down and it becomes an iota of the past that's no longer amusing."
"But mum-mum, p-poppy's not gonna miss 't fireworks, is he?"
"...Is that a bad thing?"
"Yes! How are
you and poppy goin' 't kiss if the fireworks are gone?! He already missed 't countdown!"
Serena almost spits out her cider, but her ladylike senses kick in and she manages to keep it down, "Please Alice, t-that's enough about that for now."
Her next sip is not a sip, but a chug, a long, dragged out chug.
