Metagross greyed out and you can see him in the middle of the field. Then the real episide starts and we cut into the middle of the battle with Pikachu doing another thunderbolt and then Ash calling for a follow-up attack but Pikachu was too tired. Then Alan taking advantage of the opening.
If you ask me, they cut way too much of the fight and just showed the conclusion. It does make sense because the Greninja fight was the focus and we already saw 2 pikachu fights. Anyway, nice having a discussion about it. A few seconds of that fight's choreography still sticks to me these days so it was a good excuse to watch it again.
