>>37854045Agree. It also makes me laugh when people cry about "ugly" designs and act as though they shouldn't exist, and think that Pokemon should be nothing but coolmons and anime-eyed animals. There's 800+ of these things. There's plenty of room for a wide variety of ideas and concepts to be explored, and even if someone could compile a list of 100 Pokemon they outright hate, there are still 700 other ones for them to like instead, so why even bother focusing in on that small minority of creatures that makes you seethe, just because they don't perfectly align with your tastes?
I'd rather see the Pokemon series be used as an artistic expression of many creative ideas, taking inspiration from both nature and the manmade world, than boiling it down to lowest common denominator normie appeal and nothing else, because then we'd have nothing but Charizards, Lucarios, Absols, Weaviles, Mewtwos, and dragon types. I'll take the occasional miss if it means getting a hit that no one would have ever thought of before, and I can be happy knowing that even if that "miss" isn't for me, there are probably other people out there who get enjoyment from it. Hell, one of my favorite feelings is when I see a design that I initially hate, but then gradually learn to like it over time after seeing other people explain its inspirations and appeal from their point of view. Pic very much related.
