I think the original Korrina arc is about 50/50 on whether people liked it or hated it, but for me it was one of the better parts of early XY. I remember especially thinking this scene was cool. Up to that point, Clemont and Bonnie were the main reasons to watch, but Clemont himself was kind of limited to his interactions with Bonnie and sometimes his friendship with Ash. Meanwhile, Serena had Miette and Bonnie gelled well with everyone -- Ash is Ash, take that how you will. Korrina joining the party felt like Clemont got an equal though, at least for a little while. And as usual, the episodes where the premise is "the gang gets split up after a cave collapse" turn out to be some of the most fun. The first third of XY ends with Clemont getting his Luxray and being reacquainted with his old friends from his tech school. Those were some pretty bright highlights in early XY.
