I was completely caught off guard by Sharpedo's Ice Fang. If I leveled up my starter a bit more, maybe I'd would've out-sped. Did a quick peak at the encounter tables for future areas, and it's pretty bleak, maybe that's where Hoenn's dificulty comes in?
