I can safely get any average pokemon by farming Old Ambers and offering up the Aerodactyle. I got my Petilil, Vulpix, Cottonee, and Buneary doing that. The Vulpix was quite nice.
Getting trade evolutions and version exclusives is easy as well by just offering up one in exchange for the other. Haunters for Kadabras, soks for throhs, etc.
Just, don't expect to find anything by searching the list.
