>>58405879Always has been the superior design. I think they only used it for art because they were stuck in having Pikachu as battling mascot too, thanks to Ash, and the bulkier design looked stronger and thus they had to relegate the other version to promotional stuff only.
Ash is dead now and even his Pikachu's replacement in the current anime barely battles so it's the perfect chance for them to make Pikachu actually look like the cute mouse it's supposed to be.
