Look at Beatlemania for example, which first hit Britain and was coined by British media to knock your comment on Americans. They were on TV, on the radio, in magazines, had constant interviews, had movies, a TV show, it was basically inescapable if you lived in the early 60s.
Star Wars also absolutely had a mania. There were TV shows, the soundtrack was instantly iconic, people lined up for blocks to see the movies for the 8th time in theatres, toys were everywhere, it was fucking huge.
Pokemon in the late 90s to very early 00s had a total saturation. The TV show was running on whatever networks could get the rights, the soundtrack actually broke into pop charts and was played on family-friendly radio stations, there were toy lines, food lines, the card games, movies, and games. You could literally spend your entire days consuming nothing but Pokemon media.
