To all the summerfags ITT who weren't there during the long post-release (uppercase) HYPE period of XY, you missed the absolute PEAK of Pokéfun with online friends, basically
>PSS
>super training
>hordes
>friend safari
>destiny knot
>radar
The combination of those 6 things right there, particularly the still unrivaled PSS, made people actually engaged in battling and trading.
Everyone cared about battling, everyone was interested now that it was easy. People were wilder than ever post-2000 during that time. (and straight-up than ever if you're only talking online)
>customization
>pokémon amie
>friend safari
>fishing, radar, and safari shinies
And if you thought battling and trading was everything, well XY was basically the peak of EVERYTHING else as well. People would trade friend codes for specific safaris and actively search for new people to meet. People would feel more compelled to hunt shinies now they became easier to obtain, and the hype season further encouraged people to fill their dex for once and obtain the shiny charm so they could enjoy it too. I remember the Pokémon Amie being a huge meme at the time, and it made people care more than ever about whatever the fuck they had in their team.
It wasn't post-Ohmori "Pokémon" textfaggotry.
It was PokéCHADery. People being invested in Pokémon games because they wanted to play Pokémon.
And I'm gonna CTRL+V an old post now
>Cave of Emptiness
>ghost girl
>creepy message at the train station
>haunted house that did nothing
>what the fuck do tips do
>what's up with those statues at the elite four
>the other four power plants
>strange souvenir and the unknown region
>train station in the mountains with no train
>weird hedge maze symbols
That was XY. Lots of small, intriguing, details that made everyone lose their shit.
And mind you, that was before Yout*be became full cancer too, so the average content quality was pretty good on top of that.
It's your fault for not having been there, OP-kun.
