Without even discounting the fact that this is an online card game where the cards have no value whatsoever, your own argument falls apart from the fact alone that you'd have to be an idiot to trade a card that's in demand with the community for something that you want personally.
Sooner or later they'll release a 2* card that you'll really really want, and your only choice will be to run alts or whale for it, because nobody will trade it to you for a Planeta Clodsire (unless the card you want is EQUALLY shitty). One of the main reasons I won't trade for a Budding Expeditioner or Blue right now is because they suck and they aren't worth the 25,000 Dust each.
