Both men and women are more likely to see actions taken by those of the opposite sex in a favourable light if they are relatively attractive to them, this is a tested and provable concept, especially if any negative consequences are minimal (which they are in this case because this is fiction).
Taunie and Urbain are stupid but well intentioned, but what they get into borders on actually idiotic. That's understandably on a fence for some people where they'd probably be willing to accept it as "stupid bimbo/himbo my beloved" if they're attractive, but if not they'd just find the character to be dumb. A dumb character and an attractive and dumb character are not the same thing, denying this is denying human nature.
