>>41893675>forced move use>arbitrary restrictions>"enriches the experience"I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're trolling me, here, even though you seem to think buzzwords are a valid argument. No, it doesn't "enrich the adventure" - it's a completely arbitrary handicap imposed by the developers because they were too incompetent to either implement tools with the exact same functions, or provide the option of not having it take up a valuable moveslot. It doesn't make any sense from either a gameplay or story perspective - why does Scyther, whose hands are giant swords, need to be taught how to cut shrubbery, instead of it just being something it can do? Why can't Machamp just push boulders, when its whole deal is that it's ridiculously strong? Why can't Pidgeot serve as a taxi on its own, when it's a giant bird? Why can't I just ride on any given Water-type?
These restrictions exist for the sake of gameplay pace and progression. What's not fine is every HM being a mandatory move that takes a moveslot, while almost all of them are terrible, while also being impossible to forget or replace except for the Move Deleter. There is no reason from a game design standpoint for this to be the case. Poke Rides are what HMs should have been - something that doesn't take a moveslot but fulfills the same map utility. Eat shit, but considering you're actually defending HMs and GameFreak's game design, you probably already do.
