I know this is going to spark some autism, but do you think that the Great Marsh is just a "great" natural area instead of a traditional safari zone with imported mons and some bleed in from the surrounding area? All of the mons found there fit very well in the marsh, and it has the most specific theme of being a marsh.
Also alolan vulpix, grimer, meowth, and ratata were all introduced and naturalized/ bred. Vulpix came with the first settlers though. I think the term for that is canoe plants for plants. (canoe pokemon)?
