Spent the last 10 minutes trying to figure out the "-itar" part of this family line's names. Apparently no one actually knows, even after 20 years.
All I've been able to find is that it might come from just "tar" as in the black liquid stuff, or from scimitar (type of sword). But both of those are clearly total bullshit. The -itar must obviously be coming from something else, I just don't know what.
Are there any other Pokémon whose name origin is unclear? I can't help but feel "dimpsey" for Impidimp is kind of a big stretch.
