Games being more linear doesn't bother me anymore since tedious shit only dragged and wasted time, see Sinnoh again for a good chunk of its routes where you move at a slugma pace and Mt Coronet needing 6 HMs just to go somewhere, i'm just more interested in post game challenges.
I actually enjoy the stories in the games, as well as characters and the likes since it actually makes it easier to immerse myself into it, I know people like to rush through and just skip it.
Johto was actually a pretty cozy region, level curve didn't really bother me since it actually gave you a distinguishable level between the wild pokemon and trainers/gym leaders, etc. Its a joke when wild pokemon are only 3-4 levels below a gym leaders main.
Gyarados is an ugly and overrated piece of shit and I hate the whole "i'm gonna kill you all!" meme that its spouted as well as that ugly blue colour. Shiny is only acceptable version.
I think anyone who uses the whole "gen 5 had trash and ice cream cones so its shit" liner don't actually have a proper argument and are just picking at the easiest thing because they can't come up with anything more original.
