Same way you hunt in Emerald with a working battery. Regardless of battery status Emerald always generates the same random numbers in sequence from the time you turn on the game. The same is true for RS with a dead battery but RS with a working battery generates random numbers differently each time like they are supposed to. Seeing people repeating the myth that you can't hunt in Emerald, even people who know how the RNG works, is bizarre. For all intents and purposes random encounters work normally. For soft resets just don't get the same timing and if you're human you likely wont hit the same frame because there are 60 of them every second. Yes, it's not ideal and it's understandable not to want to waste precious seconds trying to get different timings. If you're SRing while distracted by something else I think it's fine. What some people do is use the banner with the location name to get different timing. I got my Rayquaza in Ruby with a dead battery.

I like the Beast Ball because of its low odds, I want more of that: interesting balls with very low odds. It makes catching Pokémon more challenging and fun.
