But in all seriousness, I respectfully disagree. People are always against animated couples getting together, acting as if said characters are going to be liplocked for the rest of the series.
Granted there are only a handful of shows that did this, but it has worked. Kim Possible comes to mind. Kim and Ron dated for the final season, but the show stayed relatively the same. If (and I use that word strongly) the writers decide to go the romantic route, they'll find a way to do it without altering Ash's character.
