Agreed on the Ultra Beasts/Island Guardians/Mega Evolutions as well, always left a bad taste in my mouth.
Never been a fan of gimmicks that change gameplay like that, feel like loose ends story-wise. Not that Pokemon has much of a coherent story to begin with.
