I'd be less pissed if the other starters were getting the same things. Pikachu is the mascot, and eevee/meowth/etc are standalone pokemon, but charizard is a package deal. Having him there on his own is like putting in just Zapdos and leaving the other two out. It's a favorite child getting preferential treatment, and it annoys me even if I don't care a grand deal about the 3 kanto starters.
