>>45231583>they were cutting the roster in Gen VII because of how unwieldy the 'dex was becoming.Just because they weren't catchable in game doesn't mean the roster was cut, everyone was still programmed in.
>It's not easy to develop in 3D an gets more time intensive the more dynamic models and assets you include in them.Meshes and animations for older Pokemon were all ripped straight from the 3DS games, they're reusing them for the foreseeable future. Retexturing them was the hard part, they've gotten most of it done and I seriously doubt they're going to do it again going forward. Even upscaling from 1080p to 8k, those new textures will hold up, and trust me when I say there won't be any point in going higher than 8k resolution. Not for a long time, at least. The only argument you could have is if they decided to change engines yet again, but by your own logic they wouldn't because that'd be a mountain of unnecessary work that they're trying to avoid. Or they'll just keep reducing the roster even more until we dip below 150. That's a pretty terrifying future, to be frank.
>You're also ignoring how much they're emphasising Home, it's clear what their plans are and the national dex in-game just doesn't fit into that plan. And it's not well received, people invested in transferring hate Home because it's a fucking dead end.
>>45231604I want to say they were hoping they could get away with it until gen IX, and that's certainly what I'm waiting to see as a dexfag. If you and shillanon are right, that'll be the end of my time with Pokemon. I have too much of a collection to leave behind, maybe I'll do a giveaway. Got a lot of rare and legit shit like a shiny Diancie from Korea.
Anyways, call it wishful thinking but I believe the "leak" that dex cuts were never intended. Masuda looked uncomfortable as hell when he dropped that bomb, just sayin'.
