Paulo definitely feels the pressure and is even commaned by some girls dressed like magic girls while Lillie has basically a crush on Blue right after Elio and Kukui. Can't blame both of them between the pokeboys and pokegirls harems around them in that story.
Lillie from experience is trying to reassure Paulo it is a normal thing for every trainer to learn and improve as they grow up and battle more, I think she is definitely offering him her moral support as both are tutored and basically "classmates" in this situation.
