Arvalis is actually a pretty goofy guy. Sometimes he adds in goofy pokemon like the hover crabs. On the eeveelution pic he described each one in depth and their mechanism of growing into each separate creature. the leafeon licks sticky sap onto itself and the leaf on its head as a normal leaf that just happens to be stuck there. For glaceon, literally the only text he put was "Glaceon is dumb". He's a dork who doesn't take his work too seriously even when fans do.
Its especially funny to read people get so mad that their favorite pokemon isn't as cute/pretty as they want it to be, ala espeon. The comments on his deviantart are a shitshow.
