I don't want every gimmick to be extended to every single pokemon given enough time
I don't want gimmicks to be kept on life support past their expiration date after they've done their job making a new game fresher to experience
I don't want every game to lose any identity they have, with a billion past gimmicks stealing the new one's thunder by having to be reintroduced like it's the first time
I will never, ever, EVER understand people who see the hypotetical immortality of single-game gimmicks as a good thing, and actively wish for the ungodly, bloated mess that such a thing would spawn.
