Its hard to look at the most recent gens and be like, "yeah this is a franchise the people in charge of take seriously." Compare that to, say, Zelda, which has seen wild innovation over the last decade. Or, like any other Nintendo franchise except like Yoshi.
Legends Arceus was a close step forward, and while I didn't even really like that game that much, I could tell that there were people behind it that did actually care about making something unique and different and interesting.
It just seems that lately they've really embraced goofiness for the sake of goofiness. I mean look at character designs like Geeta, or Pokemon designs like Orthworm or Mr. Rime, or Calyr*x. For nearly every gen 9 Pokemon Im sure I can find 10 fakemon designs that do the concept better.
Thats why the shit graphics are so insulting. Not because I cant handle a game being ugly, but because it represents to such an absurd degree how little they give a fuck about this franchise.
