I would hate it, not because of all of the lost work, but because GF would have to either cut out selective Pokemon from their games (rather than just abandon them all, we say Magikarp in the trailers for X/Y), or introduce a fuck ton of side games/services to get the rest of the Pokemon that would be a total pain in the ass. Gen 3 had FR/LG and Colo/XD, I don't want to imagine what they would do to compensate for the same thing plus 3 other generations.
