I made this pic related specifically to reduce the scale, make it not so damn obvious it's just fantasy Australia, and by pulling across the few western state features like Perth, Darwin and Uluru into North West Queensland it fills out that empty space nicely.
It actually kind of annoys me what they're doing with Sword and Shield like the national sport metaphor of Gym battles and the wild area because a lot of it is what I envisioned for a game based in this region. If Galar has an indigenous villainous group that thinks humans are invaders and that battling is a blasphemy to the natural order then I'm gonna have to go fight Masuda in real life
