It's a multi layer issue, with most of the problems stemming from anti culture but then on top of that women tend to not monetize their creative work in fandom spaces as much
I'm with you on only creating work for characters that appeal to me, and creating for myself first and foremost
Not to sound stuck up but I don't want to use my skills for things I don't care about and I monetize outside of fandom so I wouldn't even know how to take comms these days
There's also a schism between western and JP fandom in terms of anonymity
It's a lot easier to worry about being doxxed and cancelled when you're posting your entire face and life on social media, but all the JP artists I follow will censor out their faces which I think is something worth adapting
I dunno who you are anon but I'd suggest just doing a quick internet hygiene check before publishing your Kiki fics regardless
I've got two out so far and nothing has really come of it in regards to my usual following but I tend to just be open about these things without necessarily being opinionated publicly
Like obviously I'm into shota and husbando Kieran without saying it outright
