Considering the wide array of powers a pokemon can use like vine whips, coiling, brainwash, drugging your mind with pheromones, hypnotism, time traveling, draining your soul/emotions/willpower, it shouldn't be very diffcult for them to find a way to make you stay alive AND also force you to serve them willingly.
