Ignoring the SM vs XY shitposts, who would win in a battle between Alain and Kukui at their best? It's a fair comparison since they're the strongest trainers that Ash has faced in a full battle (excluding Tobias since he's just a Diablos Ex Machina.) Honestly, my money is on Kukui.
Alain's MegaZard X has really good feats, but the problem is that the rest of his team is featless. Meanwhile Kukui's team is more balanced. Incineroar took out a Mega Aggron with ease, and Mega Aggron is know for being a physical wall. Lucario is also fucking powerful since he was able to kick away Guzzlord's tentacles, and he sent Guzzlodd flying with Dragon Pulse. Given that one Guzzlord was enough to wreck Dia's world, this makes Kukui's Lucario (and Incineroar by proxy) a complete monster in hindsight. It's kinda ironic that the strongest Lucarios in the anime are the ones who don't rely on gimmicks like Mega Evolution. Lastly, there's Tapu Koko who needs no explanation.
While Mega Charizard X can cause serious damage to Kukui's team, the rest of Alain's team is unimpressive. Alain's got two pseudos, but they got taken out by Pikachu. Meanwhile, Kukui's Empoleon did more damage to a post-league Pikachu than either of Alain's pseudos. Not to mention that Kukui's just a better battler than Alain, Alain relies on brute force and luck (Bisharp's Guillotine) whereas Kukui will utilize various tricks and strategies.
How would you guys think a Kukui and Alain battle would go down? If you think Alain would win, how would he pull it off? While I feel that Kukui has a higher chance of winning, I don't think an Alain victory is outside the realm of possibility. His Bisharp is bullshit, and his Charizard is really strong.
