I'm doing a playthrough of Red and can I tell ya it's refreshing just being able to catch a Pokemon and be good to go. No wrong ability, no shitty nature, no obsession over the gender being right for the Pokemon's personality, no balltism. Simplicity can be a nice alternative to bloated mechanics that build upon themselves over 20 years.
