>>22382864Update on this, as it turns out, Blender doesn't currently support importing armatures and animations from .fbx files, which is unfortunate. I don't know shit about rigging, but I'll give it a shot anyway one I get the rest of this worked out. These variable textures for the eyes and mouth (it's a pretty expressive model, pic related) and the whacked out splitting of the UV maps is throwing me off.
>>22382888Unity has some really neat 2D features, yeah, but it really is too big for most jobs. GameMaker: Studio would be better suited for the task, I think.
As for the 3D being too hard, you're probably right. I just think it would be neat to put out a one boss demo of the idea and see if that can pull in more talent. If we have two or three people focused on the code and a ton of competent artists working on the art assets and a musician or two, I think we could manage it, maybe. Juuust maybe.
>>22383037I was thinking of a round arena with a slightly bowl shaped floor where the fight takes place (bowl shape gives Darmanitan a sense of extreme weight), lava around the edges to keep Scrafty from hugging the walls to dodge attacks. I'm partial to having a couple tiers of seating for Darumakas to cheer from, which we can represent with two or three billboard sprites set to variable animation speeds so they look varied. Think you can handle that? Not the sprites themselves, but the programming of the animations? I don't know a lot about how Unity handles billboards.
But yeah, feel free to simplify as much as you need to. We're going for basic right now.
