I don't know what people typically mean by artificial difficulty, but this approach to problem solving may fit the description; regardless, I don't like it, and I know others feel the same way because the Gyms have been described as shit.
I also think there's a problem with the levels, but I've never finished Vega Minus, and I haven't played it seriously in a while (I did the slot machine earlier this morning and got a Spelven just to kill time, then closed it) so I can't really go in-depth, but honestly, I don't know why you're even asking all of these questions. It's a Rom Hack, not a snake. It's not going to hurt you to fire up your emulator and play it for yourself to see if you like it. unless you plan on porting it to physical hardware and don't want to waste memory or something. Like, dude, it's a free game. Play it and find out.
