He was completely nice in XY and XY/Z series yet he end up with nothing and lose many thing instead. While Alain acted like a jerk, hurt his loved one and doomed Kalos but he got everything for free while Ash was forced to get punish for Alain's mistake.
Maybe the moral of Pokemon anime is that nice guy gets nothing and only suffer to keep the jerks happy. Ash always lose because he is too nice so he should stop being nice and start acting rude, savage, ruthless and self centered.
