But this is a mainline game entry of the most profitable media franchise of all time, and for these textures to be this fucking dogshit in some areas isn't excusable.
I'm not asking for ultra-hd realistic textures, just textures that look decent and look like what they are supposed to be representing. The problem with GameFreak's tree texture from OP's image is that the texture doesn't really look like what a tree should look like. You could use it was a mud texture or as a texture for some rocks and it wouldn't look out of place. Which is a sign of a shitty texture.
