I loved Pokémon for the longest time, but from around 16-17, I grew out of it (or so I thought) and ended up giving my games to my younger brother and sister. I'd put a lot of work into my Pearl file and hadn't once taken a new game during it over the time I'd been playing it.
I had a pretty large collection in it, probably around 350-400 Pokémon and considering it only had basic internet at the time, I was pretty proud of it. My sister got that particular copy, but she never had the heart to delete that save file.
I got over my immaturity from that age and realised that just because it's a kid game, doesn't mean it isn't fun and denying yourself the things you enjoy, within reason, is far more immature. She gave me it back when I asked for it about two years ago and I added another 50 or so hours of playtime to that particular file before I deleted it so I could make a few Nuzlocke runs just for fun when I felt like revisiting an old gen after playing some XY.
There's one Pokémon that's stood the test of time, has been with me for 6 years and has yet to let me down.
Say hello to /vp/, old friend.
