Personally, I was expecting a lot more megas to be available. Me and my GF were playing through and saw the snorlax blocking the route and thought that there would definitely be a mega-snorlax with all of the gen I pandering. She kept it on her team waiting to get the megastone because she loves snorlax but it never happened. The hidden village looked all kinds of special and when I saw the snorlax I ran right over to see if it was gonna be like the Abomasnow who gives you a megastone, but no luck.
Also I expected Sycamore to be the champion. He battles you numerous times (a first for a professor) and he seems to be pretty shit at research, so he must be good at something. But nope, it's Diantha.
One other thing was the scarcity of new pokes, I never saw a Hawlucha in the wild and only found out about it from the battle inside the cave, and the same happened with every Goomy evolution. Also I kept forgetting what the silhouette of Liepard looked like so I kept thinking it was a new pokemon when encountering them.
