I've completed my living dex and no specific hunt took me than 1 to 2 hours to finish. And this time includes manipulating for the outbreak needed, setting up the kill count and reloading if the sandwich isn't effective within 30 minutes. Most hunts were done in 5 to 10 minutes, and most sandwiches allowed me to get 2, 3 sometimes even 4 or 5 shinies at once.
Going back to plain old eggs is painful. I'm 600 eggs in with no shiny and knowing I will have to spend days or even weeks at it just for 9 mons pains me. The new breeding system makes getting and hatching eggs faster but it's still a chore.
